Juan Pablo Miquirray

Born in Mexico City on September 23th in 1977, graduated with honors from the CCC (Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica) in 2005.  His final work, the short film Capillus was presented in several film festivals around the world such as the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival 2006 and even received an honorable mention at the  Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG) the same year.

From 2003 to 2005 he worked at Canal Once, a cultural channel from the Mexican  government, directing many T.V. Programs as: Bizbirije and De Compras and the short film El Abuelo.

In 2006, he directed some episodes of the series Lo que la gente cuenta for T.V. Azteca a major TV Channel in Mexico. 

In 2007, he worked as Unit Manager for Gael García’s directorial debut Déficit; he also worked as Production Manager for the full-length film Cochochi.  Prod. Canana Films.

In 2009, he worked as Line Producer for the full-length film Corazón del tiempo, directed by Alberto Cortés, in the Mexican Zapatist territory. Prod IMCINE.

He has also been Assistant Director for several projects such as: Rudo y Cursi (2nd A.D.); T.V. series, including: Mujeres Asesinas (Seasons 1, 2, and 3) with director Carlos García Agraz; XY (First season, with director Emilio Maillé), El Equipo (directed by Carlos G. Agraz), some episodes of Héroes del Norte, as well as several T.V. Commercials.

In early 2012, he finished writing the scripts Campeona sin corona, selected by Vicente Leñero’s workshop, and El observante, rewritten in the CCC’s screenwriting workshop; he directed the documentary T.V. series Arquitectura del poder, recorded in Mexico and several European cities.

Directs and produce the short film Días Inciertos (Uncertain days) selectionated to the Canes Short Film Corner 2012.

In 2013, he directed the second unit of the T.V.  serie Crónica de castas a project of the known actor Daniel Gimenezcacho, and also many episodes of Historias de vida both for Canal Once.

2014 directed  the documentary T.V. serie, Hacer el bien , sin mirar a quien. Prod. Canal Once. / and several T.V. Spots.

2015 Director of the T.V. serie Yo Soy Yo  and Sesame Street TV Show for Latin America. 

2016  Produces and directs  Una isla en el continente  (An Island in the Continent),  a full lenght documentary. Looking for post production.

2018- Present Executive Producer for National Geographic’s TV Show “Misterios del Inframundo”

Since 2012 he is head of JP&K Films, a production and rental house based in Mexico City.
